1. Introduction. Contemporary Gnosis teaches us to be objective and investigate by ourselves to make knowledge our own - we want to have faith, based on our own inner experiences, and not simply beliefs. Learning to travel consciously out of the body is indispensable for the student who wants to research and investigate other planes of consciousness.
Note that it is possible to achieve this by means of the meditative techniques that we are going to study in the following lessons, and indeed when you have mastered the techniques of meditation most of your travel will be effected in a meditative trance. What we teach in this lesson is a simplified technique, to be used until the meditative techniques are mastered wholly.
2. The soul travels. The essence or consciousness, also known as the soul, together with the astral and mental bodies, travels to the inner worlds. When traveling in the Inner Worlds, it is necessary for the consciousness to be able to think, feel, communicate, remember things We need then to be conscious, and to have the capabilities for emotions and thoughts. Sometimes the personality also travels, together with egos (see below).
3. Leave the egos behind. If you wish to achieve the higher reaches of the astral world, you must leave your egos behind - by somehow dissociating the mind from the consciousness. This is why we ask for a quiet mind as a requisite for attempting astral travel. Of course, the best way of minimizing the action of the egos is to get rid of them!
4. Imagination and visualization. Imagination is akin to the sense of hearing - passive; one waits for a sound or, in this case, an image. It is important to develop this sense - it is your mental point of contact with the Astral World. Also, this world is malleable - the constructs of your visualization experiences may and often do imprint themselves in it. Also, we use visualization to direct us into places we wish to reach - see below.
5. Techniques of Astral travel. The most basic trip has the following components:
Ask for help from your Being (Inner Mother, etc.) to get you out of the body.
Lie in position - usually on your back or on the right side.
Empty the mind.
Wait until the Anahat sound - this sound, coming from the heart (Anahata) chakra, is like a soft sssssssss, or, for some people, like the sound of the sea....
Travel. Be careful, you are in a state of somnolence, and it is very easy to fall asleep now.
Of course, you will want to add, once the sound has started, one or more of the following steps:
Mantra or Mantras - LA-RA, RUSTI, TAI-RE-RE-RE, FARAON, SSSSSS.
Astral Doorway - a picture that leads the traveler to special parts of the Inner Worlds. For instance, visualize a red triangle, or a Tarot card.
Visualisation
6. Some further points.
The use of visualisation. When you are on the verge of falling asleep, concentrate your imagination (visualisation) and your will power, united in vibrant harmony, on a particular place or area. When your concentration is perfect, start moving with faith towards the site you have imagined. You should not imagine that you are imagining, because the experiment will fail. You must really feel that you are in the place you have imagined and forget your bedroom completely.
Then the disciple should go out of the room and make his way towards an Astral temple or other places in the Astral World, as follows. When you find yourself in the Astral World, walk describing circles in a clockwise sense, and fix your imagination and will totally on where you want to go to. Then walk straightforward in the appropriate direction. This may be, for instance, the way to a Temple. Greet the Guardians at the door and go into the Temple.
How do know we are there? Trying the jump is a good technique to ascertain whether you are, or not, in the Astral World. Another technique consists in trying to insert your index finger into the palm of the other hand - if it goes through, you are in the Astral World. There is another way, which you have to find out by yourself.
Horrible beings. Sometimes one meets horrifying beings and has horrible experiences while astral travelling. We shall learn - soon - the techniques of psychic defense from these entities. For the moment, if necessary ask for the help of your Inner Mother.
Remembering things. Sometimes one has difficulties remembering astral experiences. One should ask for the help of a part of our Being known as the Maiden of the Memories, and use techniques borrowed from the attempts we have made at remembering dreams; that is, relax and use the mantra RAOM GAOM
Have a good trip!!!!
PRACTICE
PREPARATION FOR THE ASTRAL SPLIT
Relax. Order the body, the organs, and the muscles, to relax.
Pray to our Being (in particular, to our Intimate, Inner Being, Atman) to awaken the chakras of our astral body, to develop in us the power of going out in the Astral body.
Visualise a pyramid or several pyramids and recite the mantra EHIPTO.
Our disciples must acquire the power of astral projection. This power is acquired by voca1izing dai1y for an hour the mantra EHIPTO . The vowel E (pronounce "AY") puts in vibration the thyroid gland and confers on man the power of occult hearing. The H awakens the chakra of the liver, and when this chakra has come to its full development, then man can enter and leave the body whenever he wants.
The vowel I (pronounced ’EEE’) combined with the letter P develops man’s clairvoyance and power to project himself into his astral body through the window of Brahma, which is the pineal gland. The letter T strikes on the vowel O, which is closely related to the heart chakra, so that man may detach himself from this plexus to go out in astral body.
Those who have not yet been able to go out in the astral body with the keys we have given it is because they do not have the power, and so they must first acquire it by vocalizing one hour every day the mantra EHIPTO. This mantra completely unfolds the chakras related to the splitting of the astral body from the physical one, and so the disciple acquires the power to enter and leave the physical body at will.
Afterwards recite the mantra EPHRAIM:
EEEEPPPPHHHH RRRRRRRAAAAA IIIIIMMMMM
All the occult powers of the astral body become active with this powerful Egyptian mantra. “H” is pronounced as a deep sight, and the letter “P” gives force to this vowel, as when somebody is blowing a candle.
H is a vowel even if the grammarians do not say so. H is the breath of life, the fiery wind. and when combined with the letter P, like this: PH, it gives the sensation of striking life's breath with one's lips. So there are terrible powers enclosed in this mantra.
The vowel E (pronounce "AY") develops the chakra of the thyroid gland and the powers of the mind. PH brings fiery breath to all the chakras of the astral body, in order to awaken them. The mantra RA puts in vibration all chakras of the astral body of man.
The vowel I ( pronounce "EE" ) awakens the chakras of the head , and when combined with the letter M, like this: IM, it acquires a terrible power which is transmitted to all the astral chakras, quickening and kindling them.
The vowel M is pronounced as a sound that one feels in the mouth, but as the mouth is closed, it has to go out through the nose. The vowel M encloses terrible powers .
Concentrate on the red triangle in front of you. This is the symbol of the tatwa FIRE (TEJAS) and opens the chakras associated with astral travel. It can also be used as an astral doorway during actual astral travel.
Meditate on the reasons why it is important to go out in the Astral body.
