4. The Tree of Life.

It is possible to present the material given in the previous

lecture in a manner associated with the Kabbalah, in which the diverse bodies or planes are symbolized by the Sephiroth, as can be seen below. At this level we do not use the Hebrew names of these; below is then given the correspondence:

Kether - the Father, Brahma, the First Logos.

Chockmah - the Christ, Vishnu, the Second Logos.

Binah - The Holy Spirit, Shiva-Kundalini, the Third Logos.

Chesed - Atman or Atmic world.

Geburah - Buddhi or Buddhic world.

Tiphereth - Manas or Causal world.

Netzah - Mental body or mental world.

Hod - Astral Body or Astral world.

Jesod - Etheric Body or Etheric world.

Malkuth - Physical body or Physical world.

There are interconnections and relationships between these, as shown by the segments between them. This is studied in more advanced courses. Much can be said now about the Tree of Life, however:

1. Spiritual and creative energy comes from the Unmanifest, and gives rise to the Divine Triangle: the Cosmic Father (1st. Logos), Cosmic Christ (2nd. Logos), the Holy Spirit (3rd. Logos). The Cosmic Father (The Ancient of Days, Brahma for the Hindus and Buddhists) is the direct emanation of the Unmanifest, and the source of creation. The Cosmic Christ (Vishnu) is the executive creator, the Verb, the masculine principle. The Holy Spirit has two aspects: the feminine one, the Cosmic Mother (Kundalini, Parvati, Mary, Isis, etc.) and a masculine one (Shiva-Saturn). The Cosmic Father and Cosmic Mother give rise to emanations as part of our Being, the Inner Father (Father who is in Secret) and the Inner Mother.

2. The following triangle is composed of Atman, Buddhi, Manas. Atman (the Intimate, Inner Father, Inner Being) is the executive manager, does the will of the Divine at a lower level. Together with Buddhi (the Divine Soul), they represent the Inner Master, in charge of our spiritual development. Manas is the Human Soul, of which we know an aspect, our Essence or Consciousness.

3. The final part is composed of the Mental, Astral, Etheric and Physical bodies.

4. The right-hand elements (3rd. Logos, Buddhi, Astral Body) are feminine, the left-hand ones (2nd. Logos, Atman, Mental body) are masculine. The rest represent equilibrium.

5. There is an abyss in between the Divine Triangle and the rest - the level of consciousness, the modes of perception, are very different in the first Triangle.

6. The Human Soul (Manas, Tiphereth) is halfway up the tree, and divides the higher components (Divine Triangle plus Atman-Buddhi) from the lower ones (Mental, Astral, Etheric, Physical bodies). It is its job to harmonize both parts; this is done as follows: The Father sends an emanation to the Human Soul, and the Inner Christ, the inner version of the Verb, is born. Its function is to achieve this harmonization by killing egos.

7. As Samael says:

"Even if the Christ were to be born a thousand times in Bethlehem, it would serve for nothing if he is not also born in our heart."

The Great Rebellion, Ch.23, 24, 29.

PRACTICE

CONCENTRATION ON A RED TRIANGLE

(Symbol of the fire)

This is an exercise on concentration, visualisation and imagination.

1. Relax.

2. Contemplate the red triangle (symbol of the tatwa Tejas, or Fire). Concentrate deeply in it. Then close your eyes and wait for the complementary triangle (green) to appear. Then visualize the original triangle (red!). Feel it grow or you getting smaller. It is like a door. Approach it, and send a ray of light to its middle. Try to go through it!

Visualize yourself in a forest. You see a path before you. Follow it – where will it take you?
